Personal Information

General Overview: Poseidon is the olympian god of the seas, earthquakes, floods, droughts, and horses. He lucked out when Zeus took the crown over the gods, Hades took the dead, and Poseidon took the sea. By far the least maintenance required, he doesn’t have to deal with the numerous complaints of other gods, or the constant backlog of dead souls making their way through the underworld. He has the sea. The ever-changing, unexplored, dangerous sea...

Nicknames: Pos, Earthshaker, Daddy of the Seas, Wet Daddy

Likes: Seafood, sex, water sports, horses, anything that involves water, his favorite thing to do is surf, meditation, living in the moment.

Dislikes: Alcohol, or rather the effect alcohol has on him; Dolphins, an awkward encounter of a sexual nature left Poseidon on the bad side of all dolphins; responsibility; deserts

Flaws / Weaknesses

Brother's Keeper. Because of the immense responsibility of the Realms in their care, the Brothers oathed to become caretakers of the other's power and domain in the event of death, debilitation or abdication. As a result, the Brothers are bound to care for and respect each other's Realms knowing, should the worst occur, they could be charged with their care.

Irresponsible. Poseidon lucked out when Zeus became King of the Gods, since cut from the stomach of Kronus, he’s kind of left that sort of stuff to his two brothers. Unfortunately, this also makes him flaky and undependable, ditching important events for surfing instead.

Loner. Poseidon never quite got the control over his powers that his brothers or sisters did, and around his family, he loses what little control he has. He often isolates himself from the family to prevent these events, though he longs to one day be a part of them again.

Sober. Poseidon did terrible, horrific things under the influence of alcohol and drugs over the years, a recent epiphany made him forgo all intoxicating substances. But there is still the voice that whispers one more couldn't hurt.

Skills / Abilities

Immortality. Technically immortal. Immune to the effects of aging, cannot die by any conventional means, and is immune to all known mortal diseases and infections. As a deity, they are able to teleport, or "pop" anywhere in the mortal plane with a few exceptions, the God Floors of the GC HQ are mystically protected, so no teleporting to or in between them, anything on the non-mortal plane, i.e., the Underworld, Atlantis, and the Void, are non-accessible without a guide.

Mother Tongue. As the bridge between the mortal world and the divine, they speak all languages mortals do, even the long dead ones.

Sea King. Poseidon is the ruler of the Seas and all that falls within its spheres of influence. Everything that lies in water, cradled between Earth and Sky, he has control over. This extends to literal control over the Oceans and Seas, as well as rivers and lakes, and all things that live in the depths or cross the waters, including bending blood that courses through others bodies. This power comes with a great cost, Poseidon must always be close to water, if he were to be stranded from any form of water for a prolonged period of time, he would die. Permanently.

King’s Prerogative. To better administrate the care of the Three Realms, the Kings alone are allowed passage between each other’s kingdoms without meeting the requirements of entry. This allows the Brothers to meet as needed or in secret to ensure all in their care is tended and tended well.

Seal of the King. Each of the Three Kings has a seal that binds spoken oaths to their Realms. Oaths sworn before the Three Kings and sealed by them are inviolable. Anyone that breaks oaths so sworn and sealed must suffer penalties not just in one realm, but in each realm, the penalties served consecutively and ordered by the one whose sealed oath was broken. The Kings may also use these seals alone, binding oaths to their individual realms, as needed.

Shapeshifting. Poseidon appears to mortals and immortals alike as a 6’6 man, flowing locks of brown with beads at the end, deeply tanned. As one of the Three Kings, who share this ability, he can take the shape and appearance of any human or animal he wishes.

Storm Bringer. When Zeus and Poseidon are together the results are cataclysmic to say the least. Not because they hate each other, quite the opposite, Poseidon and Zeus can cause floods and storms that last for years. As a result, Poseidon and Zeus can only be together for a limited time without causing an earth ending event.

Tectonic Shift. Poseidon can shift the plates of the earth, hence the name Earthshaker. He often goes barefoot to sense these ever present changes beneath the earth’s surface. While Hades controls the earth through the valuable ores, Poseidon feels the very emotions of Gaia, and she’s pissed. Poseidon likes to think he is grandma’s favorite and that’s why he has such a deep connection to her, but in reality, it is most likely the opposite.

Zoolingualism. Poseidon can speak to all animals of aquatic origin, as ruler of the deep, he can communicate with all his subjects. Not plants.

Personal Attire

Normal Daily Wear: Board Shorts, Beaded Necklace and Anklet. No shirt, No shoes.

Alternative Dress Wear: Naked. If duty calls for it on Olympus, he will wear a hawaiian shirt and cutoffs.

Magical Artifacts/Weapons

Trident. Gifted from the Cyclops, much like the Bolt, Poseidon’s trident enables him to rule over the seas, much to his chagrin. The extent of the abilities of the Trident are still undiscovered, even to Poseidon, himself.

King’s Mark. After the Titanomachy and the defeat of Kronus, the three Brothers took their father’s ring and gave it to Hephaestus to give to his forgefires. From it, three symbols were forged – an Eagle, a Dolphin, a Serpent – given to each Brother, a symbol of the subjects of his Realm and of their shared charge to care for this world.

Historical Synopsis

Poseidon was a son of the Titans Kronos (Cronus) and Rheia and a grandson of Ouranos (the Heavens) and Gaia (the Earth). He was a brother of the gods Zeus, Hades, Hera, Demeter and Hestia.

Poseidon made the marine-goddess Amphitrite, eldest child of Nereus, first born son of Pontos (the Sea), his queen and consort which secured his dominion over the sea. Their son was the fish-tailed god Triton.

He also had numerous mortal offspring including giants such as Antaios and the cyclops Polyphemos, magical horses like Pegasos and Arion, and various human kings, heroes and villians including Theseus and Bellerophontes.[1]

Introduction

The sea. A beautiful landscape of swelling waves and peaceful sounds. The water pulls back from the shore, collecting and resurging forward with another crash on the beach. To mortals, it is a mystery that they will never uncover. To some, the sea calls to them. It whispers, it lures, it hypnotizes. To others? It unnerves, , it unsettles, it kills. The sea is whatever one wants it to be.

The sea is also a bitch.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

One thing you should know is that I dislike being King. Wait… let me rephrase, I hate being lord of the seas. I have ruled over the waters for centuries now and I am tired of the responsibility. That is why I left, Amphiritie in charge. Now that she is back home at Olympus, I must return to Atlantis and rule the kingdom I abandoned long ago.

Will I be able to be the ruler that my people need to be?
