Professions

Residence

Dolus left the GC a long time ago, and although Floor 60 is still his, he hasn’t used it in centuries. He views the Earth as his home now, and has properties all over the planet. Some are easy to find, others are hidden away (which is just the way he likes it).

Personal Information

General Overview: Dolus left Olympus a long time ago, after...well...let’s call it a bit of a falling out with some of the other gods. Since then he has roamed the Earth, building up a vast web of contacts, sources, informants, and people who owe him favours. He’s well connected with a wide cross section of society, from street beggars, all the way up to those within the upper echelons of society.

During his time away from the other gods, Dolus has also focused on developing his creative skills, especially his work with clay. Although not the greatest artist, he is known in the right circles, and most importantly his art soothes him (as well as being a plausible reason for him owning a legitimate business through which he can operate)

Nicknames: Although he has many aliases, Dolus is recognised as Dole, or Darren (but that’s only to one certain mortal, only)

Likes: Sculpture, art, games and dogs

Dislikes: Quietness, laziness, disorganisation, early mornings and birds

Flaws / Weaknesses

Tongue Tied. Dolus is only able to speak in lies. Over time, he has learned how to cheat his way around this, asking questions (which are neither true or false in themselves) or writing down his words. His inability to speak the truth does frustrate him, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

I’m confident...I think:. When he first left Olympus, Dolus’ powers were raw, and he lacked confidence in himself. Over time, he has developed his abilities and now views himself as the best in the business. Yet, he still suffers from a nagging doubt, that questions his abilities…

Who said that? Dolus suffers from voices in his head. He hasn’t yet worked out where they come from or why. He heard them much more in his younger days, when they almost sent him mad. After years of hard work he has learnt to cope - he hopes...

Rebellious. From a young age, Dolus has always rebelled against his superiors, doing things his family, or the wider immortal community, would find unacceptable. He has the urge to do things in his own way and will, usually, see through what he starts.

You choose your friends. Dolus has spent so much time in the company of mortals, he is more comfortable with them than the gods these days. He has little interest in his own kind these days, and would much rather spend time with Earth dwellers (one in particular).

Failure when unplanned. Dolus is a meticulous planner, and will always consider every possibility. He won’t cope though if something crops up that he hasn’t expected. Although rare, when Dolus is blindsided, he will really be caught out.

Skills / Abilities

Immortality. Technically immortal. Immune to the effects of aging, cannot die by any conventional means, and is immune to all known mortal diseases and infections. As a deity, they are able to teleport, or "pop" anywhere in the mortal plane with a few exceptions, the God Floors of the GC HQ are mystically protected, so no teleporting to or in between them, anything on the non-mortal plane, i.e., the Underworld, Atlantis, and the Void, are non-accessible without a guide.

Mother Tongue:. As the bridge between the mortal world and the divine, they speak all languages mortals do, even the long dead ones.

Master planner. Dolus has worked hard to refine his powers, and weave his web of lies far and wide. He’s always running schemes, plotting how he could bring down Governments (not that that really interests him - unless he needs something from someone) or working out how to pack up the chess pieces before his opponent has made their first move.

It’s alive! Dolus’s passion for clay can be used to his advantage, with him bringing his creations to life. It takes much effort on Dolus’s part, and will leave him drained, especially if he wants any meaningful period of life out of his creations.

Personal Attire

Normal Daily Wear: Dolus will always dress appropriately for the situation/alias he is assuming.

Alternative Dress Wear: At home, Dolus is relaxed and will usually throw on a t-shirt and ripped jeans, which are most often stained with clay and paint from his artwork.

Magical Artifacts/Weapons

None (but he’s on the lookout).

Historical Synopsis

DOLOS (Dolus) was the personified spirit (daimon) of trickery, cunning deception, craftiness, treachery and guile. He was an apprentice of the Titan Prometheus and a companion of the Pseudologoi (Lies). His female counterpart was Apate, the spirit of deception.[1]
