Professions

Head of Security and Intelligence for the God-Complex and the deities at large. Known as “The Two-Nine” in reference to the floor it occupies in the God Complex HQ. Dinlas handles security, intelligence service, as well as tracking down wanted fugitives. Our training facility is located close by in a building known simply as “The Warehouse ” which houses several offices, a small medical clinic, and an armory as well.

Residence

Residence is in the God Complex HQ on the 29th Floor. He does split time as well with Nyx, with whom he is romantically involved.

Personal Information

General Overview: Quiet and reserved, often mistaken for sullen. Dinlas grew up very much alone and he still needs his alone time. He values it to collect his thoughts, sort his priorities, and re-energize and re-focus his energies. For many years he sowed Hate, Jealousy, and Discord everywhere he went, but no longer. Since returning to the mortal plane he has worked hard to reinvent himself and he now stands on the threshold of that new person. Dinlas, originally ‘The Guardian” then “The God of Hate”, has now transformed back. As the Head of Security, he has now assumed the mantle of protector and guardian of the God Complex and those within.

Deity Nicknames: Amata (Nyx only) otherwise no nicknames.

Likes: Spending time with his wolves. He enjoys target shooting and spending time with Nyx, they are a solid comfortable couple. He is very devoted to his work and will spend long hours working to make sure all the details are ironed out as smooth as possible when it comes to protecting the deities. Dinlas is very organized, almost OCD. His residential, as well as workspaces, are neat and orderly with a place and purpose for everything he possesses.

Dislikes: Arrogance or boastfulness. Messy, disorganized, or cluttered spaces or situations. The same goes for people he sees as lacking focus or direction. Motion and action with no direction are wasted in his eyes and he has no use for it. Everything should have a purpose.

Skills / Abilities

Immortality. Technically immortal. Immune to the effects of aging, cannot die by any conventional means, and is immune to all known mortal diseases and infections. As a deity, they are able to teleport, or "pop" anywhere in the mortal plane with a few exceptions, the God Floors of the GC HQ are mystically protected, so no teleporting to or in between them, anything on the non-mortal plane, i.e., the Underworld, Atlantis, and the Void, are non-accessible without a guide.

Mother Tongue. As the bridge between the mortal world and the divine, they speak all languages mortals do, even the long dead ones.

Summon Cerberus. Dinlas grew up in the Underworld after being cast out of Olympus by his mother. Cerberus and he bonded, becoming inseparable. In times of severe crisis, Hades has allowed Dinlas to take Cerberus with him to the mortal world to create mayhem. Hades will only allow it if he perceives he will get a large influx of souls from the transaction. Dinlas must go to the Underworld to ask for Cerberus. If Hades approves, he transfers control over Cerberus to Dinlas for a period of time. No other immortal may stand in for Hades in this way where Cerberus is concerned.

WYSIWYG. What You See Is What You Get. Dinlas appears the same and does not shift form or shape. Hate always appears the same. Because he remains constant in a shifting world of deceptions and perceptions, Dinlas can typically tell instinctively when someone is attempting to deceive him.

The She-Wolves. Dinlas originally named them Hate and Jealousy, but has since come to calling them their given names Calligenia and Aode. Given a draught of ambrosia, they are his constant and, now, immortal companions. Though not bonded telepathically, Dinlas and Calli/Ao have no difficulty communicating with each other. Calli and Ao were once loves of Dinlas but were cursed into their state as wolves. They have two abilities. First, they can transform into human form. They appear as two beautiful women, as they were before they were cursed. They cannot, however, speak since, though they changed form, they still think and act instinctively as wolves. The second ability is that they can, for short bursts, move faster than the human eye can detect. They appear to teleport but they are actually moving faster than the eye can see.

Battle Wound Healing. Dinlas was once the Guardian of the city of Lamark, where wounded warriors were healed. There he learned healing from the master healer, Asclepius himself. Though Dinlas cannot heal disease, he can heal any wound received in battle through both magical and physiological means. The use of the magical aspect of these healing skills does present a drain on Dinlas’ energy, while the physiological does not.

Hand-Eye Coordination. Dinlas has impeccable hand-eye coordination. When shooting he rarely, if ever, misses. That also applies to his ability to avoid damage. It carries over into everyday life in any sort of games or skills that require excellent hand-eye coordination.

Keys To The Kingdom. Dinlas was raised in the Underworld by his uncle, Hades, with whom he is very close. Though he does not have the ability of a select few Underworld resident to be able to teleport in and out of the Underworld, once he has paid Charon and crossed the river, Dinlas may go anywhere in the Underworld he chooses (with the exception of Tartarus Correctional Facility) at the bequest of Hades.

Flaws/Weakness

Solitary Confinement - Dinlas can be moody and sullen at times. These moods can last weeks, months, or in some rare instances years. During these periods he withdraws and cuts himself off from everyone around him. He will do this to the detriment of anything current in his life, ignoring even critical needs.

Do You Feel Lucky? - Dinlas is extremely protective of and loyal to those closest to his heart – and the list is small. His beloved, Nyx. His twin, Eros. Hera, who loved him. Hades, who raised him. If his protective instincts are aroused, he can become irrational – which is just another word for EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Test that at your peril.

Best Served Cold - Dinlas is vindictive. He never forgets those who wrong him and has been known to go out of his way to settle scores others would have long forgotten.

Seed of Jealousy - Dinlas feels like he is always in a competition with his brothers, Phobos and Deimos, specifically when around Ares, his father. As self-contained and independent as Dinlas presents himself, some part of him still longs for acceptance and validation.

Seed of Hate - Dinlas refuses to have anything to do with his mother, Aphrodite. He doesn’t have Mommy Issues, thank you. That would require a mother.

Personal Attire

Normal Daily Wear: Black suit – White shirt buttoned up, vest, black suit coat, black tie, no tie. He wears his sunglasses as often as possible. May occasionally dress down (e.g. no coat, no vest). (see also, Void Armor below).

Magical Artifacts/Weapons

M1911’s – Dinlas owns a matching pair of pistols forged by Hephaestus. Anyone wounded by them are struck by paralyzing fear. Hephaestus secretly forged them so they cannot harm any God, Goddess, Muse, or any other Olympian or their agents. Dinlas was unaware of this when he received them.

Sunglasses – Dinlas wears a pair of sunglasses that allow him to see the emotional aura of anyone to whom he is speaking. He uses them to manipulate people.

Void Suit - A gift from Nyx, Dinlas’ Void Suit acts as a protective barrier to diminish damage and protect Dinlas from physical wounds.

Void Sword - Dinlas ancient sword, taken by Nyx, dipped in each river of the underworld and imbued with the void to increase damage. The blade is pitted, pocked and barbed but incredibly strong from the magic.

Wolf Bracelet – The latest gift of Nyx to Dinlas is the bracelet. A beaded bracelet that he always wears with one wolf’s head bead. The bracelet allows Dinlas to sprout a pair of soft, feathered, grey wings that enable him the gift of flight.

Historical Synopsis

Dinlas is the illegitimate son of Aphrodite and Ares, and twin brother to Eros, The God of Love. Aphrodite rejected him and cast him out of Olympus. Some say because he was the only male, god or mortal, that she seemed unable to manipulate, even as a child. Others say his hate and anger were simply too incompatible with her nature. He ended up in The Underworld where his Uncle Hades took pity on him and let him stay there. Dinlas grew up angry and alone. In time Hades realized the anger and hate in him so he sent him to the mortal world to be the Guardian of Lamark. Lamark was an ancient city where warriors would go to heal after battle. Dinlas grew to love the city and was close to Asclepius one of the chief healers.

When Ares, his father, discovered the city he was angry. He felt true warriors should die in battle. He went to Dinlas and tempted him with promises of riches and land if Dinlas would turn on the city. Dinlas was tempted and he went to Hades who let him take Cerberus back to Lamark. Between the two of them, they destroyed the city. As the city lay in ruins, Ares was pleased, Hades too, since he had received many souls. Ares then reneged on his promise to Dinlas. At that point, fear and dread ruled the lands and he turned over the spoils of war to his twins Phobos and Deimos. Dinlas had done the deed, killed all the people including his friend Asclepius, and was left with nothing. Dinlas the Guardian was dead, Dinlas the God of Hate was born.

Dinlas is a mythological god who is sparsely covered in traditional Greek mythology compared to other gods of the pantheon. Through research, we have written him to be as historically accurate as possible. However, Wayne Davids has taken liberties to fill in Dinlas’ story at times as he sees fit, especially since his return.[1][2]

Introduction Written By Wayne Davids

So, you’re the curious type, are you? Don’t look surprised, I know that you’ve never heard of me. You saw my name and picture and thought, “Who in the five rivers of Hades is this guy?”

It’s not surprising. After my mother, the Goddess of Love, rejected, neglected, abused and cast me out I got very little notice from anyone. Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. She has love for everyone she encounters except her own son. I suppose, that is, if you call ‘love’ constantly being on your back with your ankles in the air.

And my father? Ares? He was no better. Untrustworthy and arrogant. When he found out I was helping heal warriors after battle in the city of Lamark he tricked me and destroyed the city. I can still hear him afterward, “Noble warriors don’t get wounded; they die with honor on the field of battle.” What a putz he was at the time. I suppose he has gotten better with age.

So Zeus has called us back and I have answered. As my story has been written I have lost much of my hate, I no longer wish to be the face of persistent anger. Through words and deeds, I have worked and struggled to once again become a guardian. This time I will not falter, I will not fail. The time has come for me to step out from the shadow of my own misdeeds, once and for all free of my past.
